Happy Birthday to My Favorite Twins

Today is my husband Mark's birthday, and his identical-twin brother Mike's - as typically happens.

Although my husband only goes to thrift stores and yard sales under duress and with the misguided hope he will find some high-end vintage stereo equipment (a hope which I may or may not foster to get him to go with me), this weekend we did do some poking around.

Maybe because his and Mike's birthday was approaching, I did notice a some twinsies on the shelves.

Like this Flowers in the Attic looking pair.

And these two, who are both a wide-eyed bottle opener and a disgruntled cork-screw 

and salt-and-pepper shakers. 

I've heard the one on the right can be moody, but they're fun at a party.

A pair of twin angels...which is not exactly how my mother-in-law has described her children.

And this pair of squirrel brothers who rob the bird feeder twice as fast.

I also kept my eye out for birthday gift ideas.

I thought maybe this coat rack made of deer parts could be good. 

Or a box of limbs covering an old doll...oh,wait...I got him that last year.

Maybe an eagle made of fur?

Then this doll caught my eye...well, someone had already caught hers. 

I almost got him this wooden carved bull head...

But then I thought, Nah, he'd really like twin Samuri brothers so he could share with Mike.

I finally settled on...none of these things.

Although Mark has celebrated 52 of these shared birthdays, 

he is still very much a kid at heart.

And fun to drag around to thrift stores, lured with the very slim possibility he will find an old McIntosh tube amp or a set of Bang & Olufsen speakers. 

But I like when he comes with me, so I'm not telling him just how slim.
