Bubbling Up
I actually bought something new at the Goodwill the other day.
Not only that, but I got such an unexpected rush of hope and downright giddiness from my find, I about teared up right next to the display of used winter scarves,
My discovery was a bin of bright colored bubble makers. I know, not earth-shattering.
But my cousin and I had just decided that with the adults in her family and mine at fully or partially vaccinated, we would get together for (a small and mostly outside) Easter...something our families have been doing for generations - and we all missed terribly last year.
She will be bringing her two young sons, who I haven't seen in 2-years now, and all I could picture when I saw the bubble makers was them running around the yard in a cloud of bubbles and giggles. And I may have gotten a bit verklempt.
A little something bubbled up in me. Maybe a tiny glimpse into a future where I will be able to wrap my arms around family and friends I've been missing.
And then my yard got into the spirit of things too and popped up some daffodils. A little sign of spring, renewal, and dare I say, hope.
Side note...
I have joined an interesting site for writers and readers with all kinds of articles, stories, photos and writing contests. So, if you have an interest in doing some reading by independent authors, or want a place for your own writing, check out Vocal.Media.
Below are the links to two short stories I submitted for a writing contest Vocal had in conjunction with Mole Skin Sketch Books...
Happy Spring!
