Second Hand Valentines
For someone who published their first book by winning the "Timeless Love" writing contest and contemplating their next book be less murdery and more romancy...I'm not a big mushy romantic.
This was the sentimental tear-jerker I texted to my husband this morning.
Mostly because I'm super clumsy.
But it does feel like this old world could use an extra-dose of love, so (not-surprisingly) I looked to the thrift store shelves for some inspiration as the Christmas left-overs jockey for position with the Valentine's Day items.
I spotted this Irish couple who look happy on their wedding day.
And this young pair enjoying their book and fishing gear.
Sometimes I wish Mark would look at me the way this monkey is looking at this skull.
I'm not sure if this is good news or not, but it looks like Pepe le Pew may have finally caught that cat and they're living at the thrift store.
If this cat and mouse can love one another this much, I think there's hope for us all.
Today is a day for celebrating all kinds of love. Like a mother's love.
Brotherly love -
(OK, I may have gotten a bit mushy when my sons hugged in the airport after Will got home from his semester abroad).
And of course the love of a clown for his monkey - let's not forget that.
I wish you all the love today, whether it be for your dog, kiddo, mom, the second cousin once removed who you don't talk politics with at Thanksgiving, or whoever makes you smile and feel warm and fuzzy.
Happy Valentine's Day!
